Robert Cattle Dog Mix Palatine, IL

Do you need a hug? Robert, an approximately 10 month old, 55 pound Australian Cattle Dog mix, loves giving hugs and being held. He shadows his foster, following her around everywhere. He will run up to every person he meets on the walk to ask for pets and a belly rub.

This happy love bug is extremely well behaved and loves to please his humans. He is doing well with potty training and will sit by the door when he needs to go out. He does well in his crate when left alone. He naps on the floor during the day and sleeps in his crate all night with no problem.

Robert does like to "talk" when he plays with other dogs and when there are fireworks. He loves squeaky toys! He shares well and loves playing fetch with tennis balls. He hasn’t chewed anything that wasn’t his.

A quick learner, Robert already knows sit, stay, come, go potty, and no. Be aware that Robert is a herding dog and will try to manage other dogs. Because of these herding tendencies, we recommend no young children, unless his owner is willing to train him appropriately. He does do very well with his foster’s six year old boy, who understands appropriate handling techniques. Robert has no food issues and great leash manners. Robert’s forever owners will need to be aware that he needs help working through his attention-seeking behavior (while cute, this is a habit that will need to be tamed with gentle patience).

If we do not receive any communication from you, the dog may be adopted out at our event prior to 12 pm if the perfect home comes along. :-)

The breed or breed mix listed for each dog is simply a guess. The profile software program requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. However, visual breed identification is unreliable. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog’s individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess. Dogs are individuals.
