Rip came to us after being Rescued from a very immature, abusive young man who had purchased him as a 8 week old puppy. His sister observed him mistreating Rip horrifically on several occasions and stepped in and took him away. He is now 6 months old. Rip has all but forgotten about that time in his life and is doing so well in Rescue. He's learning all the things a good farm dog should know and that he can come to humans for love and guidance instead of having to run and hide. This breed mix is often referred to as a "Texas Heeler". They are known for their incredible intelligence, strong loyalty and amazing athleticism. They are courageous and protective. He will excell at almost any job you can come up with. Key word here, he WILL need a job to keep him mentally challenged, healthy and happy. He is great with every dog he's met and fine with cats. Stock dogs RARELY make good choices for Families with small children, their tendencies to "herd" often get them in trouble. He is a very "sharp" dog and will need an experienced stock dog owner to help round off his edges and teach him how to control his urge to bite and be dominant. This will be easy at this age in the right environment. He's incredibly smart and eager to please.
