Meet Ricky
MEET RICKY! Ricky is a 4-year-old male, 12-lb black and white pomeranian. He is a sensitive and intelligent boy looking for a special home. Ricky lives for his walks and playing fetch. If he weren’t such a Pomeranian, we’d think he was a tiny Border Collie. He is low energy and nervous around the home, so he is seeking a patient and quiet family of 1-2 adults that he can bond to strongly.
Ricky is looking for an experienced dog home who is excited to provide a safe place for him to learn to trust and settle in at his own pace. Ricky's original home had no structure or consistency, so he will benefit greatly from a forever home able to provide him that.
ABOUT RICKY:
* He loves his dog beds and will sleep in his crate by choice, but he is learning to be comfortable with it being closed for longer periods of time
* He is leash-trained and does not pull
* He is house-trained and prefers to potty on walks
* He enjoys car rides, but sometimes a little too much so he needs to be clipped in for safety
* He loves playing with small, soft squeaky toys and his favorite game is fetch
* He can learn to coexist with other calm dogs, but he needs a slow introduction
* He doesn’t mind cats and seems to leave them alone. He also ignores his foster’s rabbit and is also great with their chickens (he can be in the coop with them!)
Ricky absolutely adores walks, hikes, and he would make the most perfect pocket-sized adventure buddy.
PERFECT HOME: Ricky’s perfect home is in a low-traffic home with a gentle and calm adult family who are very experienced with dog behavior. He will need quite a bit of time to settle in and a very committed family who is interested in rehabilitating Ricky’s ability to trust humans. Ricky isn’t playful with other dogs so he would be a great only dog, but would be fine in a home with another low-key dog, cat, or other small animals with the right introduction.
We will be happy discuss Ricky's past and his needs so he can be successful in his new home as he is in his foster home.
If you are interested in adopting Ricky, please fill out an application: https://www.mywayhomedogrescue.org/adopt/apply-to-adopt/ Ricky is neutered, Heartworm tested, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and had his flea treatment. His adoption fee is $300.
