Professor Peter Von Nostrand Chihuahua Mix Austin, TX

Professor Peter Von Nostrand entered an open intake shelter with pit puppy Dr. Martin Van Nostrand. The Professor clung to the good doctor for any sense of safety and as soon as they were separated, the Professor trembled and was labeled unadoptable due to fear and slated for euthanasia.

But as we anticipated, once we sprung the Professor from those scary kennel walls, his tail was wagging and he was happy to be in our arms and be carried like a baby!

And quickly the Professor became less and less interested in Dr. Martin as he discovered sprinting in a yard, meeting new dogs and attempting to extract cats from under the bed for his scientific research.

But don't let his scientific pursuits fool you—beneath that inquisitive exterior lies a heart of gold. The Professor is as sweet as they come, with a soft coat inviting to be pet and an affinity for wet food that suggests an air of sophistication.

He's a master of the art of snuggling, whether it's in bed, on the sofa, or curled up in your arms. And you won’t mind, his fur is so soft and he’s just too adorable to resist. But don’t expect him to just chill in a corner while you work - the Professor is always up for a bit of adventure and would love interactive toys, dog friends or a yard to run and play in!

The professor is also very quiet in a crate and does not seem to have house accidents, preferring to conduct his private affairs outside where he is also disciplined about his daily calisthenics, zooming around the yard.

Cats may appreciate it if you do not bring the professor home as he gets mixed reviews and still believes he is the first to discover felines and is on a quest to be the first to publish his research! But he does sometimes sleep next to them at night, with one eye open!
