Meet Princess
Meet Princess!
Now in our care, Princess is a sweet senior Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix, 12 pounds, approximately 8 to 10 yrs old.
Sadly, Princess was surrendered to one of our overwhelmed shelter partners the Sacramento SPCA and she was in pretty bad shape to say the least!
Scared and thin with severe overgrown nails. She was also obviously suffering with flea allergy skin issues which results in frequently rubbing or scratching the skin, so she has hair loss and severe lichenification of skin on abdomen and around eyes. Lichenified means the skin has become thickened and leathery due to itching. She is on the mend and receiving medicated baths, antibiotics and Apoquel to stop the itching so she can heal.
Princess has also been spayed with a mammary mass removed and she has also had a dental cleaning and some teeth extractions! This little Princess is one smart cookie says foster mom!
She is super cuddly, loves other dogs, is getting along with the cat in foster home. We are looking for a home with another calm dog to adopt Princess. We have discovered that without another dog in the home, she will experience separation anxiety. She also is more confident on walks with another dog along. She must have been a bonded pair at some time in her life. Princess is being fostered in Chemanius. Thank you Joan for fostering Princess!
