Meet Philip

Kindly read Philip’s entire bio before inquiring:

Holy Cow, this miniature Ewok has come so far!! Philip was relinquished from a hoarding situation where he was basically not exposed to any loving version of humankind. He has been in foster for ***10 months*** now, gotten neutered, vaccinated, deflea-d/dewormed - and he is doing great!!

BUT! Doing "great" for Philip does not mean that he is anything close to a "normal dog". Philip is 1000% a project; he will require months of thoughtful work and patience before he bonds with a person.

When we picked Philip up he shook uncontrollably at human contact and did his very best to escape any and every person. Now he loves his foster mama, and he tolerates her closest friends. Philip still barks at the (all older) children of the household. He does not make new friends easily - it will take weeks for Philip to become comfortable with new people, and he will not let new people touch him until he has become more comfortable with them. This can create some problems acclimating him to a new home, and he must be crate trained. If you are not 1000% on board with crate training, please do not inquire.

Philip requires at least two meet and greets, and *at least* one other dogs who is SUPER friendly with people. Philip still pancakes when a person moves too quickly, or approaches him instead of letting him come to them. He will approach people that have a pooch, and occasionally sniff new people without, them, but he will not let them touch him (again, potential adopters *must* have at least one people-friendly pups- and the more the merrier!).

But, once he trusts a person, he is a complete shadow. A velcro-dog. A third leg. Absolutely demanding of your love and time. Believe us, you will appreciate having a couple of other playful, fun pups to help entertain Philip at times! He is quite a sweetheart once he decides that he loves you, and he loves to be with his person. He is an under the cover-cuddler.

Philip is crate trained, potty trained, and seems to only occasionally find a pair of underwear or sock to munch on. New owners should expect to continue to lovingly teach Philip what is, and is not, his toy. He *loves* walking in a pack of pups and walks with a harness, does okay with regular grooming if it is done by his "person", and does very well with other dogs and cats.

Philip's forever family must have:

1. Patience. Lots of patience. New families must have a working knowledge of fearful dogs and will absolutely let Philip come to them - which will take weeks/months. If you are looking for a dog that you can cuddle after two or three hours - or two or three weeks - there are plenty, and Philip is not that dog.
2. A secure fenced in yard.
3. Confident, friendly dogs - at least one - but two or three would be great!! Philip will take time before he bonds with a new human; he requires friendly pups to help him acclimate to a new home.
4. Confidence that he will live the remainder of his life with his people ??

If you are not sure if this sounds like something that you can, or would like to, do, then it isn't. Philip will take a lot of time, a lot of patience, and you must be *comfortable* crate training him so that he has a *safe* place to relax and can choose when to greet people on his own terms.

If you are prepared to take the time to acclimate the cutest little Ewok you have ever met to your family, please fill out an application or text/call Shauna with any questions @ 412-779-0499.
