Meet Nova

Nova
1.5yr old Husky/GSD mix

Hi there, I’m Nova and I am still searching for a family of my very own. I am going to be 2 years old this summer and my puppy stages are pretty much over. I am not destructive in the house, I never go for the garbage and I don’t chew anything except my bones and nohides. I am house trained, and can be left home alone. I’m also great on a leash and the tips of my ears flop as I walk which makes me look adorable! I love my daily walks so much and would be an ideal hiking partner or running partner. I don’t need a ton of exercise as I’m a pretty chill girl most of the time. One thing my foster family are working hard on with me is my habit of jumping up on people and tugging at their sleeves, a bad habit I picked up in my past before being rescued. It’s tough to have little kids around as I just have not yet learned that it’s the wrong thing to do when greeting humans, so we are working on it daily and will need my new family to continue to work on that too. I walk to the schoolbus everyday for pickup and we are practicing being around smaller kids and not jumping at them. It’s a journey I’m on and I am making a little progress each week that everyone is so proud of me for trying this hard. I love being outside in the backyard and opt to stay out for long periods of time hunting for sticks. I don’t hunt much else as I’m not super prey driven. In fact, one morning I found a skunk in the backyard and I just barked at it and kept my distance until my foster mom came and brought me back inside. She was very thankful that I did not get sprayed! Our house is on a corner and people walk by the fence all the time but I don’t bark much. I mostly listen and watch them go by and then I just keep sniffing for those sticks I like to find. Above all, I like to be with my foster family, wherever they are is just where I want to be. If everyone is brushing their teeth and getting ready in the morning I like to lay right in the hallway so everyone can step over me on their way in and out of the bathroom. If they sit on the floor to play uno I will lay right in the middle on top of the deck, just so there are lots of opportunities to pet me. I love to snuggle on the couch all evening tucked in close to my humans, and I sleep on the couch at night because I’m too lazy to go to my bed. I just want somebody to love me so I can love them back and help me turn my ruff start into a happy ending.
Nova is looking for a pet free home and would do vest with older children over the age of 10.

The adoption fee is $600 and includes spay/neuter (dogs over 6 months), vaccines, heartworm test (dogs over 6 months), deworming, Flea and tick prevention and microchip. Please visit www.paws-united.com to fill out an application.
**For puppies under 6 months a $200 spay/neuter rebate will be given with proof of spay/neuter certificate signed by a vet, if they have not been done prior to adoption.**
**Please note we DO NOT adopt our dogs as outdoor/farm dogs. These dogs are coming to us as stray, roaming or dogs that have lived a life tied to a chain. Our goal is to bring them in the house off the chain and give them a pampered indoor dogs lifestyle. Unless otherwise stated we will not even consider a home that has intentions of leaving our dogs outdoors or tied to a chain**
***We do require every applicant to provide a vet reference and we do follow up with your vet. If you do not currently have a vet as you have no pets, we strongly encourage you to do your research and contact vets to make sure they are accepting new patients. You must have a vet in place before bringing a new dog home. You will be required to give your vet permission to release information to us, we also require two personal references as well that will be contacted. We have policy and procedure in place while screening homes. If a family refuses any step in the process they will not qualify for adoption. We are not currently doing adoptions across the boarder.***
