Meet Nieema

Nieema ACCT-A-161796 is a 6-year-old female who came in as an owner surrender on 4/12, due to homelessness. She's been residing in an office as she hates going back to her kennel, and has shown that she is housetrained and she behaved well when left loose in the office overnight. She's move in ready!
She was described by her owner as being high energy, and while she's not going to be running the Broad Street Run, she would love a home where nice long walks are part of the routine, along with hanging out on the couch and getting to play with toys,
Per staff on 4/19, "Saw a volunteer trying to convince Niemma to go back to her kennel but she was putting on the brakes. Told them she could go to my office, as per volunteers she's very housetrained.
On 4/17, Nieema was diagnosed with a URI. Respiratory PCR test results indicated that she was positive for coronavirus and Canine Adenovirus Type 2 - but negative for pneumovirus.
During a checkup on 4/15, staff noted that Nieema was exhibiting heightened signs of shelter stress and was prescribed trazodone.
Per staff on 4/15, "Nieema got out for some fresh air today! In kennel she hopped up on the door with a wagging tail and soft eyes. She got down once I started opening the door and waited nicely to be leashed before coming out. When we got outside Nieema went potty immediately. I think she's probably house trained! In the yard Nieema went potty some more and then pressed her body against my legs looking for some love. She soaked up some all over pets before I got her to start playing with me. Nieema would chase some tennis balls but never brought one back. She also seemed to like a tug rope, but didn't really play tug. She mouthed it while I held it but never really pulled or tugged back with it. She just happily chomped on it while I swung it around for her! Nieema found a half destroyed stuffed toy that she finished off. I'm sure she'd like paper towel rolls and other destroy-able enrichment and toys! After she got some energy out she came over looking for some pets and attention. Nieema is such a sweet girl! She didn't demand bark at me today, so I must've met all her needs! After about 15 minutes of outside playing time Nieema was ready to go back in, and stood by the gate panting and looking back at me expectantly. She returned to kennel like a perfect gentle-lady!
During an intake exam on 4/13, staff found Nieema to be in good general health and "cheese motivated.
