Meet Nadine

Name: Nadine
Gender: Female
Age: 5 months (DOB 9/8/23)
Breed: Catahoula
Weight: 34 lbs (~50-60 as adult?)
Disability: Deaf
Dogs: yes
Cats: yes
Kids: yes

Socialization/training: Under-socialized until we got her recently, Nadine is initially trepidatious and novelty shy. Once she is comfortable she is very playful and friendly. It won’t take long for this puppy to build confidence over some time of regular social interaction and exposure. Right now she is fostered with a trainer and spends every day in a training/daycare facility meeting countless dogs and people.

Crate trained: Comfortable in a crate, goes in to lay on her own. Prefers not to be left alone, barks initially then does well all night long.

Leash trained: Fine on a leash, minimal time on it presently. Has pottied on the leash a few times fine.

Activity Level: Medium. Loves play and romping with the best of them, but also happy to hang out chewing on a toy/chew or cuddling. She is a shy puppy acclimating to a whole new life so her energy level could change with her comfort level.

Fence: LOVES running free in the huge fenced yard at her foster house with the resident dogs of all sizes. She does jump/climb baby gates so supervision with her outdoors will be a must.

Behavior: Nadine is a sweetie pie and loves pets/snuggles. She doesn’t like being left alone (without a human) and will follow you from room to room. She does jump gates as tall as almost 4 feet to get to where the humans are, but is happy to stay in a confined space when you are with her. She loves play time with dogs so would do well with another dog in the household, but it is not necessary. She hasn’t shown any signs of aggression towards humans or dogs, but she has shown her teeth to set boundaries with obnoxiously “in her face” dogs in the daycare setting. As she feels more safe with her playmates this goes away. Nadine is cautious when entering new environments but good at following a trusted person into them when guided. More outings in the world will build her confidence, as well as general training. We haven’t started training yet but she will take to it well with her new person!
