Meet Myth

Meet Myth! She is about 2 years old, 43 pounds, and looks like she has some Staffordshire Terrier and Lab in her mix. In her new foster home here in MA, where she has been a week, her foster shared this..

"Myth is doing fabulous. It's been quite a journey for this extremely shy pup but I believe she's beginning to open up. She is house trained: We've only 1 accident so far. She takes her time doing her business outside so lots of patience is needed. I'd say she is not really crate trained. We discovered she has a talent for finding remote dark corners and hiding for naps. (this lovely lady needs her down time alone) SO we covered the crate completely to make it like a cave and started leaving treats inside. She will go in to get the treat but does not see it as her space. We continue to work on making the crate her "safe space." She does walk really well on a leash 75% of the time. An abundance of patience (and treats) is needed walking. She's taking in so many new sights and sounds she stops and sometimes lies down (sometimes in the middle of the street). We've learned to always have treats on hand. She loves people watching especially kids. Also, if she get's spooked, she'll try to bolt, resulting in lots of pulling b/c she is scared. Once she is settled, it's back to lovely walking. She is so sweet, submissive and eager to please. She absolutely needs a patient, dog savvy family with a sturdy fenced in yard. She met a doggie friend here in the neighborhood just for a few minutes but pleased to report, it went well."

She is required to join a quiet, adult only home where she will be the only dog, but dog savvy/confident cats are fine.

Adopters will be home for most of the day (beyond the COVID quarantine period), with a fenced in yard and opportunities for lots of walks to provide her with daily, positive new experiences with people and other dogs, as well as life skills through training. Adopters will need to teach their puppy house-training and crate-training. Enrolling in a puppy training class with a certified, positive reinforcement dog trainer is required. Adopters are encouraged to commit to training beyond the initial required class.
