5yr old Shihtzu mix

Hello, again! I’m Minion. You may recognize me as I was up here looking for a home not too long ago. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.
I am a 5-year-old Shih Tzu mix, and I weigh about 15 pounds. I have the cutest little raspy bark, and I make little snorty noises a lot. Everyone thinks it’s so endearing!
I have something called Dry Eye and I will need eye medication for life. I let my foster mom apply the medication with no issues, and I’ve even come to look forward to it because I get a cookie afterwards. However, it will take some time and patience for me to trust my new person to apply it.
I had a rough start to life and didn’t get to experience the regular thing a little doggy like me should have… I didn’t understand this “snuggling” thing when I first came into foster care, but wow, I LOVE IT!
I really don’t like when strangers come into my space, and I become reactive. I will need help working on this more in my new home.
In my foster home, I live with a dog my size, and we get along great most of the time… but I really don't understand what he's doing when he tries to play, and I become the fun police. I struggle to give and understand play cues—play-bowing isn’t in my vocabulary yet! If you have another dog in your home, I will need some training to help me get along with them in these situations. I don’t have any reactions to other doggies when I’m out for walks though, and I am really great on my leash. I think walks are the best thing EVER!
I LOVE to play with toys, shoes, cardboard, cushions, you name it! I love to chew on them (but not destroy them—unless the item is super fragile). But it is usually pretty easy to redirect me to something that I'm allowed to chew on, and I’m doing well learning what those things are. I have quite a bit of energy and will need someone who wants to give me lots of walkies and playtimes. I will definitely be extra energetic as I settle into my new home. With that being said, I am a pretty chill and sleepy dude for most of the day.
I do not like my crate very much. But my foster mom says it is necessary—depending on how puppy-proofed the house is—when I’m left alone as I can sometimes get up to no good and she doesn’t want me to hurt myself. I really hope my new family will be home most of the time and that I won’t have to spend much time in a crate... I have a bit of separation anxiety, and I definitely can’t hold it for 8 hours! I also want to be able to sleep on the bed in my new home, please! I love to burrow and roll around in the blankets before and after sleeping!
I'm doing well with my potty training, but I do have accidents occasionally during the day. I know how to use my pee pad or ask to go out, you will just have to pay close attention. This will definitely be an adjustment in my new home.
My new family should know that I am a type of dog that will require regular grooming. I went to the groomer while in foster care and she said that I was nervous and wiggly, but that I did well and probably just need to get more used to it. Just look how cute I am in the picture she took!
I've been through a lot in my little life and my behaviours will continue to change as I get comfortable. I've been a very quick learner with my training, but I need someone who is willing to work with me and be patient with my progress. In return, I will be a very loving, loyal, and cute companion.

Minion has been vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm tested, vet checked, neutered and treated with Nexgard Spectra.
