Micki Poodle & Shih Tzu Mix Lenoir, NC

Update 8-15-18: Micki has fully recovered and is no longer on crate rest. He doesn't need his daily medicine, although it's kept on hand (Carprofen & Gabapentin) in case. He still barks at the cats, but is enjoying time in the living room with the family and other dogs. He likes to lounge on the back of the couch and will hop down to the floor to play with the toys. He still needs to be carried up & down stairs as a preventive, so a one-level home is preferred.

Initial assessment: Micki is an amazing little guy. All he wants is to sit on laps. Sometimes he'd like to play with a ball, but he has a herniated disk so right now he's on crate-rest. He was diagnosed June 20th, so is 2 weeks into treatment.

He weighs about 12 lb and we guesstimate his birthdate in June 2014. Micki's teeth are very nice, so perhaps he's younger. He'll pull on the leash on occasion, but enjoys a nice walk. He'll bark to let his foster know that he needs to go out.

Micki has a shih tzu body with poodle fur. He's had a haircut since his intake picture. His tail hasn't been docked as a poodle usually has, but is a great, wavy indicator of his happiness.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we frequently have to make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

A vet reference is required to confirm responsible pet ownership. We suggest first time pet owners look for an adult dog for companionship and to gain experience.

All adoption fees cover two vaccinations plus spay / neuter if using our veterinarian and surgery occurs as agreed upon. Additional fees for 3rd puppy vaccination, refundable spay/neuter deposit, etc. may apply. We are an all-volunteer, foster-based rescue.
