Merlin Australian Shepherd Mix Schaumburg, IL

Look out! With his handsome features and loving disposition, this young wizard may just put a spell on you.

Merlin came to SCCR as an Alabama stray but has adjusted remarkably quickly to house life. No need to worry about house-training; Merlin will go by the door to tell you he needs to go out. You can also trust this 40-pound boy to not chew on anything that isn’t his, for he is perfectly happy with his own toys. Merlin is fine in his crate if need be, but would much rather be out and near his people. Because of his good manners, a crate does not appear to be necessary anyway. 

Merlin may take a few days to warm up to new people, but once he does he will be your shadow. Couch time? Merlin will be snuggled right next to you providing some extra warmth. Need some exercise? This Aussie mix is always up for a walk or a play session in the yard (LOVES a good roll in the snow). Merlin is simply an easygoing pup excited to do whatever you are doing. 

Though it is clear that Merlin is a people dog at heart, this 18-month-old also gets along well with other dogs. He enjoys running around the yard and curling up on the couch with the resident dog, and has been fine when meeting unfamiliar dogs. Merlin is also friendly to visitors and great with children, but can get a bit scared around loud, sudden noises. This minor issue should improve as Merlin becomes more comfortable and confident in his new home.
