Mercy Belgian Shepherd / Malinois Petaluma, CA

Mercy was dumped on a highway in southern California and, luckily, found by a dog trainer traveling that way. Mercy had an injured leg and after having no luck finding anyone to take this sweet girl in, she took on the responsibility of caring for her wounds, vaccinating, spaying, and training.

I think Marcey's idea placement would be with an owner looking for a lower maintenance, friendly Malinois as a sporty pet. An owner that had some previous working breed experience, not necessarily with a heavy duty training history, but familiar with higher drive dog temperaments would be ideal. I’d say she has a GSD or sporty lab equivalent level energy and training needs. A home with a male dog would be great, she's very appropriate and playful. I don't know that a female would be a great combo and while she's untested on cats, but I would say no females, no cats to be safe.

While she is still a puppy, she is a fairly low maintenance keeper and is just now coming out of her shell and starting to be ready for some fun obedience work. Her ball drive is developing and she’s now showing lots of toy interest, so there’s tons to work with in the right hands. She’s on an e-collar and does a phenomenal off leash recall even off of critters and is fantastic out on the trail, where she really is a joy to watch. She's adaptive and unfazed by environmental things that freak most Malinois out and is unusually easy to physically handle. When properly exercised, she relaxes easily in the house.
