Mercury Mixed Breed Pekin, IL

Mercury has come so far since intake. He's grown from a puppy with little manners into a handsome adolescent dog that is responsive to training. As long as his handler is careful not to get him overstimulated, he is doing great on impulse control and refraining from puppy mouthing. He walks well on a leash , knows, sit, touch, and can ring a bell. He attended an off-site event and did well in the community environment with a responsible handler and mingled with customers. He will need continued work on obedience and manners, and likely potty training in the home but this is one smart puppy that has come so far in training in a few short weeks. Adopters should know that they may have to make slight accommodations to previous training methods. Mercury does seem to have some neurological issues of unknown origin which causes him to slightly tilt his head at times and run into things from time to time but it doesn't slow him down. He will need an adopter committed to his on-going training.

Animal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. Animal stage may change from time to time based on surgery and medical status. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Full and current vaccination schedule and medical records along with any behavioral disclosures will be provided at time of adoption.
