Meet Mel
Meet the ~new and improved~ Mel! Since coming to WHS and being in playgroups and Canine Good Citizen class (from which she graduated with honors), Mel has become a more confident teacher dog and will be helping other dogs in class learn new skills. (Come and watch her work Fridays from 1:00-2:00 pm!) Mel was originally a nervous girl and it took a bit of time for her to trust, but she has continued to gain confidence and manners through working with staff and volunteers! Mel is still shy initially, but LOVES to leans into pets and gaze into the eyes of the people she trusts. Mel loves romping around with her friends in doggy playgroup and going on walks daily, she would do best with someone who enjoys maintaining an active lifestyle and with someone who is home often. She is a typical husky and loves to tell you how she feels in a spunky husky way. If you are looking for an affectionate, sensitive, and gentle girl, Mel might be the one for you! If you would like to meet her, please fill out an application to see if it's a good fit!
Here is what would work best for her in her new home:
Personality: Affectionate, curious, sensitive
Can Live with Kids: Dog savvy kids 13+; Unknown history.
Can Live with Cats: No. Like many Huskies, Mel has a very high prey drive and needs a home without any cats or other small animals.
Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Mel enjoys playing with doggy friends here at the shelter and would likely do well with a dog friendly pup! Any initial intros would happen at WHS and continued slow and supervised introductions in her new home!
Can do Apartment Living: No, Mel is a big girl with a lot of energy and would love a home with a fenced yard to romp around in!
Potty Trained: Appears to be!
Bite History: No
Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: No, I am a Certified Canine Good Citizen!
Energy Level: Medium
