Meet Marley. Marley came to us from our friends over at the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter so if you thought that you recognized him from over there, you would be right! While in their care he spent time in a foster home, and they reported that he warms up quickly and that once he knows you, he just wants to follow you around and jump in your lap. They noted that once comfortable he becomes quite confident and can even be a little bit bossy, so he will need a savvy adopter who is ready to dedicate time to proper training and boundary setting. Since he has been here with us, shelter staff have noted that he has a tendency to exhibit some cheeky puppy-like behaviors such as mouthing and jumping and that he can be a little sensitive to handling so an adult household would likely be best for him. He is liable to chase cats and other small animals, but a home with another dog may be a fit for him provided they meet first at the shelter. He may look like every other tan chihuahua, but he’s got personality out the wazoo, and he’ll make someone a great little dog.
