Meet Maple
Have you ever seen a more beautiful Aussie smile?!
Maple is about 2 years old and 48 pounds. She has a gorgeous red merle coat, a stunning smile, and a full fluffy tail. She has one blue eye and the other a perfect horizontal line with brown above and blue below! She came to us as an unclaimed stray from a shelter partner.
Once Maple gets to know you, she enjoys soaking up love and affection. She has a very good heart and is just a lovely girl. Maple has a medium energy level, but she settles very nicely in the house.
Leashes and commands were new to her, but she is SMART. She’s learning more each day about her leash manners, and does need calm, attentive work to help her work through her reactions to people and other dogs on leash. She will thrive with proper training and exercise and has already shown improvement with her foster family in her responses.
As with most Aussies, she wants to keep tabs on where her humans are in the house! Sudden movements and loud noises do startle her, so older children or an adult home are probably best. But she is not an overly nervous dog. Once she trusts her people and opens up, she is a delight – she’s very warm and affectionate, loves praise, hugs and pets.
Maple does dominate other dogs and prefers to be the only dog in the home. Maple has not been tested with cats.
Maple is crate trained and house trained. She has been left alone in the house uncrated and does not chew or get on furniture. She is extremely well-behaved.
