Meet Mako in TN - Loves All Dogs, Big & Small!

This pretty, young girl with the long, soft coat is Mako, and she’s ready to have a family and home of her own! Mako was rescued from a hoarding case where she was living in dire straights and without human interaction. But now she’s in a foster home learning all about the kindness of humans, comfy dog beds, and the joys of peanut butter! Mako has done beautifully when introduced to every single dog she’s met, male and female, large and small. She is particularly gentle with the resident deaf male Pyr. Dogs are clearly where she finds comfort, and she will need at least one other dog in her furever home. Mako is curious about people and wants to bond, but if uncomfortable, she will dodge your hand while sniffing you. She will soon learn that hands = pets, and that belly rubs are awesome! She has already figured out that car rides are great fun, and she will jump right into the vehicle. This gorgeous gal prefers being outside, but that may change, as she was quite content in the house once she got the chance to wander around inside her foster home. Her furever home should have a 6’ fenced-in yard so she can run and play with her doggie pals, and then sprawl out for some chill time and a good nap. Mako is learning about leashes, and is already crate trained and ready to alert-bark to any big threats in the neighborhood. - She’s not the type to go on barking at anything and everything, but she will definitely let you know if there are any deer in the woods! She’s non-reactive to the indoor cats, even when one swiped at her. Mako has an obvious love for people and we can’t wait to see her blossom in an active and involved home, where she’s spoiled with cheese slices and treated as a member of the family!

Due to the high level of interest we can't respond to emails unless an application has been submitted.

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature (www.nationalpyr.org/know-the-breed) and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.

Secure VISIBLE fencing is required; invisible fencing WILL NOT contain this breed.
