Meet Maggie3

Introducing a very lucky and adorable litter of puppies named Asher, Bonnie, Ginger and Maggie, who were found cruelly abandoned at an industrial site without food or water. Since we have no idea what their mom and dad(s) looked like, we're taking a guess there's some German Shepherd in there, along with a potential variety of other breeds. It's likely that, based on their estimated age to weight ratios, they're likely to be larger breed mixes who could mature into 60-70 lb. adults (or possibly even bigger). They all have very sturdy legs and large paws, usually a clue to future size range.

These pups were extremely fortunate to be rescued by a wonderful SPCA PETSSNAP volunteer who is fostering them. She reports that even at a young age they quickly learned to use a doggie door to go potty outside--not a single pooh in the house, though they still "dribble" some when they become excited or scared. In their foster home they've been well behaved around kids, other dogs, cats and even chickens! They're just now being introduced to wearing harnesses but don't yet know how to walk on leash. And of course, always good to remember that it's normal behavior for them to try out the durability of anything against those sharp little puppy teeth!

They all seemed quite easy going and calm at their first Petco adoption day, with Maggie occasionally showing off some greater confidence by barking a bit at what she thought was suspicious activity (noise from stocking nearby shelves). The lone brother Asher (who might also have some Husky, Malamute or even Rottweiller ancestors based on his markings?) bonds to people very quickly and loves nothing more than to be with them. Though their foster says all four of them love to snuggle, despite our suspicions of previous abuse.

These puppies should be ready to go to their new homes sometime around mid-April, following a short recovery period after their spay/neuter surgeries. They're all current on their vaccinations, worming, flea control and heartworm prevention and they'll also receive a HomeAgain microchip with a lifetime registration. All this for an adoption fee of just $100 each! If one of these precious pups has captured your heart, please GO TO WWW.SPCAOFMC.COM and click on the green arrow icon near the top of the page to submit an online application (no cost or obligation).
