Meet Macho

Macho's family was moving and decided not to take him. So off he went to the New York Animal Care Centers, the New York municipal shelter.

Before giving him up, they had this to say:
They did leave glowing notes about him. Macho LOVES kids. He loves being around them, sleeping with them, allows them to handle him, and is super affectionate towards them! Macho is also friendly, outgoing and playful towards strangers. Towards dogs both familiar and unfamiliar, he is tolerant and playful. Macho's owner said he is alert and has no behavior issues. Macho was described by his family as active, playful, social, and very affectionate. They said their favorite thing about him is how affectionate he is with his owner as well as the kids. Macho is smart-he knows some commands, but he knows them in two languages; both English and Spanish. His favorite treats are Milk Bones, and loves tug, rope and balls.

But never the less he was so stressed that he was labeled for rescue only and almost lost his life.

A wonderful woman came to his rescue and has been fostering him.

These are his stats.

Name of foster: Macho a.k.a Lil’ Mini Moo Cow
Approximate age: 14 months
Approximate weight: 55 pds.
Breed (s): Pit Mix
Spayed or neutered? Neutered
Good with:
kids? Yes
strangers? Yes, but is a little intimidated by men at first.
other dogs? He is good with our 9 year old male dog.
cats? Not sure. Same goes for chickens.
On leash? He walks well when walked without other dogs. We are currently working on this with him by using positive reinforcement (treats).
Housetrained? For the most part. He doesn’t bark to go out so it tooks us a while
to read the cues; sneaking away into a part of the house that the family is not in
and/or getting really hyper.

Crate trained? He has separation anxiety (can you blame him?!) and we believe he was never crate trained. When entering our home he was crated so that he could decompress for a while. He is not a fan and he lets you know by barking until he gets settled. At this point, he will not sleep in a crate at night without whining. Sleeps fine in a bed with us or our kids though.
Paper trained? N/A

Meet Macho/Lil Mini Moo Cow, a young pup with a personality as unique as his
name! Overflowing with sweetness, friendliness, and a dash of goofiness, he is a
bundle of joy waiting to fill your home with laughter. His gentle and smart nature
makes him a quick learner. Whether you're looking for a cuddly companion to relax with or an energetic partner for your morning runs, Macho/Lil Mini Moo Cow is the perfect fit. He's brave and ready for all the adventures life has to offer. Adopt Macho/Lil' Mini Moo Cow and experience the pure, unconditional love only a pet can provide.

A forever home should be a patient and loving person or family that is looking for an energetic, cuddly, smart and handsome boy.

Macho really is a sweetheart. The person/family should live in a place where Macho has room to be silly. He loves running around in our (6 ft.) fenced in backyard and collecting sticks.

Macho can be cuddles like a baby, sleeps with us (he snores at times), has the best smile, and wears booties and a jacket willingly. He has sensitive paws so booties in the winter are a must. Also, we take morning runs (1 mile). He a great running partner.

Issues: Separation anxiety but he's getting so much better.
