Meet Mabel
Hi, my name is Mabel! Here is what would work best for me in my new home:
-Personality: Energetic, active, intelligent, a bit nervous at first but affectionate once she trusts you
-Can Live with Kids: Unknown history - may be O.K. with respectful kids ages 12+, but this is up to the counselor's discretion
-Can Live with Cats: No, has a high prey drive - no cats
-Can Live with Dogs: Mabel is a bit dog selective and in need of some socialization. She may be able to live with a SOCIAL dog who will respect her boundaries and teach her appropriate behavior. No rude/undersocialized dogs! Initial introductions will be done here at the shelter.
-Can do Apartment Living: No, she is a large breed working dog who needs more space
-Potty Trained: Appears so!
-Bite History: No
-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Yes, at least one private lesson is required for adoption. More would be beneficial.
-Energy Level: High!
-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Yes, a spay
-Additional Information: Mabel is an active and intelligent dog who's going to need someone able to keep up with her. In her last home, it appears she was left to her own devices and often got into trouble. As a high energy breed, Mabel needs lots of exercise AND mental stimulation to keep her from channeling that energy into something destructive. German shepherds are working dogs after all - this means they were bred to do a job and will often get bored if not given something productive to do. This sweet girl would benefit greatly from having a stable routine and consistent training to help build her confidence. We think Mabel will thrive in the right home - she just needs someone who understands her! If you'd like to meet Mabel, the first step is filling out an application. Staff will then review applications to ensure it's a good match before scheduling an introduction.
