******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************

We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog.

LUKE DANES is a 6 yr old neutered male located in TEXAS. He can be transported to an approved adopter. He currently weighs 65 lbs.

Luke Danes is the likely father of the Gilmore Girl puppies we have available for adoption. This whole family was rescued and are looking for their new starts. Luke is a gentle, soft soul who loves to lounge around. This boy would love a big yard and a porch to lounge on. He's a lovable, calm dog who his foster describes as a "teddy bear." He prefers belly rubs, ear rubs and nose kisses.

Luke does well with other dogs. His preferred type of play is laid-back. He generally sniffs them and lets out a cute Lukey bark, but prefers lounging to active play. He's good at picking up other dog cues and is generally the first to stop the play and plop down for some rest. He's great at communicating his needs and lets others know when to respect his space. He has had no issues meeting other dogs of all sizes and prefers calm interactions. While we believe he would enjoy a dog with a similar energy level in the home, we don't think he necessarily needs to have a dog sibling.

Luke enjoys a good cuddle session and also will paw at you when he wants more pets. He enjoys meeting new people, and is a gentle soul. Luke doesn't mind being left alone at home and is not put in a crate. He is happy to just lounge in the living room. He's low to moderate energy and will not require an active home to be satisfied. He's less of a "go on hikes" kind of dog and more of a "movie night and cuddles" kind of dude. Generally, he doesn't care for toys and prefers to be loved on. He does well when left alone, so no need to worry about being away at work with this guy.

In the home, Luke is mostly house broken though he does occasionally mark. Now that he is neutered, we are hopeful that that urge will subside and he'll continue to progress in his training. In the home, Luke is fed separately as he doesn't like other dogs near him while he eats. He doesn't have issues with humans around his food and has shown no issues sharing toys, bones or treats.

We believe Luke was a stray for a long time, so there are still some things he's getting used to. He's not leash trained, though his foster is working on it. Sometimes the leash makes him anxious and he lays down and tries to wiggle out. Because of his dislike for leashes, a home with a yard would be best for him. He gets a bit anxious in the car but doesn't have issues with stairs. He's also still getting used to the vet, so precautions are suggested when he's getting vaccinations.

We don't have information regarding children or cats. We believe he would do best in a home with older children who would respect his desire for space when he communicates it.

An ideal home of Luke is one where he gets all the love he desires. He's looking for a patient home who is willing to help continue to socialize him and can provide him with a grassy yard and ear scratches. He would prefer a calm home where belly rubs are plentiful but where he can also get his space when he desires. This teddy bear is ready for a new beginning.
