Meet Lucy

Do you have a middle name? You probably only know it if you’ve been naughty, right? At the shelter they called me Susan. Foster Mom calls me Lucy. The Foster Kids call me Lucy Mae if I’m doing a mischief! Which isn’t often, okay. You really need that middle name for extra oompf if you’re no no noing. I love everything about my Foster Home, even my crate. During day time I nap outside my crate, but for night time, I want to go in it. It’s my relax place to get my beauty sleep. Not that I need any!!

I’m not a fussy eater. They call me The Hungry Hungry Hippo. I will eat anything!! But my favorite is the jerkey or the pigs in a blanket. Speaking of blankets, I love to grab the blanket off Foster Mom so I can nibble her toes. I nibble at hands too, I’m kinda mouthy as are most herding breeds.

But despite being a mouthy gal, I know not to do it to the kids, so I’m a great bestie to the lil 4 year old that lives here, we love playing. Kids are fun! Funner than Foster Moms even. I just love humans and attention. I always wants to be touching someone somehow even if it’s my tail or my head or a paw as long as one part of me is touching one part of you I’m in happy time.

I asked the older dog that lives here to put in a good word for me, her name is Melba. Melba says I’m pretty fun to play with she appreciates the fact that I leave her alone if she gets into one of her tired, annoyed, grumpy old lady moods. On a scale of 1 to 5, she gave me a 4.8. Not too shabby. If I’m not playing with Melba the dog or my foster kid, I enjoy any toy that crinkles or squeaks. I don’t enjoy lazy quiet toys such as balls or ropes, seriously, do something stop just being bumps on logs.

I love toys and kids so much that I do pilfer a few of my foster kid’s toys or shoes and take them to my crate to try to hide them from her. I don’t chew them. It’s just a fun hide and seek or smell and seek type of game. I love the smell of people shoes. I walk on leash no pulling but Foster Fam is trying to teach me to stay to the side and not go round and round merry go round. I have lots of energy and need to work on my listening skills to rein it in.

To help me work on listening, Foster Family is teaching me words. “Outside” means we get to go into the out! “Snack” time means I’m about to get the good groceries. “Release” is when they unhook my leash and I’m free! “Inside” means Foster Mom is tired of the out and she says we’ve had enough potty and play time.

And Foster Mom’s famous words is , “no business”! This means I need to stop going where I’m going or doing what I’m doing because I have no business in there or doing that lol, that’s the one that needs my middle name. Lucy Mae no business! And “no m’am” works too. Okay, I have one more word. If I get too buck wild during play time, the word is “settle” and me and Melba stop and lay down on their beds.

Look, I’m just gonna ask Foster Mom to write you a dictionary of “Words That Lucy Sometimes Lucy Mae Knows”. I really have some normal Shepherd qualities as well, I’m very mindful about who is supposed to be at this house and who isn’t supposed to be. For example, squirrels, squirrels should get off our property! Immediately. But all they do is go round and round the tree to try and fool me.

I will make a perfect family pet and be sweet and also aim to protect my house and my people. I’ve been great with all visitors from men to nieces and nephews, which are also known as children too. Speaking of children, puppies are the children of dogs. Foster Mom doesn’t think I’m 3 years old, she’s says I act puppyish!
