Meet Lucy, a member of our K-Pop Six!

Thank you to Candy Cane Rescue and Animal Rescue Korea for saving this amazing girl! Lucy was rescued from the meat trade by Candy Cane Rescue and Animal Rescue Korea was brought to MNGR. She’s now safe and sound in our care.

Lucy is the sister to MNGR alumni Jamie, Orion, Micky, and Amber, and adoptable brother Luke, and adoptable mother Lola. We do know that, through a DNA test, Lucy and her brothers are 50% Belgian Malinois, 38% Greyhound, and 12% either Deerhound, Wolfhound, or Borzoi…!

Lucy is a shy gal; she and her brother Luke came with their mom and all their siblings from the Korean meat markets this past fall. Because Luke and Lucy are so shy, they are the only ones who have not found their forever homes. Although Lucy doesn’t “show” well to potential families because of her shyness, she will approach people for quick pets before backing off. Once she trusts you, she is affectionate and playful! She and her brother Luke play and play and play, and even enjoy being out in the snow!

Lucy is friendly with all of us at the adoption kennel including the children (who are all ages 9+, although I think she would do okay with younger kids as well). But when there is a loud noise or sudden movement, she will startle and hide behind her favorite human (MNGR dad). Lucy needs a dog-experienced home who can be patient with her as she learns to trust, and help with her socialization. She would greatly benefit from a “shy dog” training class. Her adopted siblings have done obedience classes and done very well at them!

Because these guys are part Belgian Malinois, they are not your typical Lazy Greyhound. One of the siblings routinely goes on 6-mile runs with his mom! Lucy is extremely intelligent, and would benefit from nice long hikes and enrichment activities, things to help boost her confidence. Because she is ALSO part greyhound, she cannot ever be trusted off-leash. She needs a family with a MINIMUM 6-foot fence (not negotiable) or a family committed to leashed exercising/walking using a “spook” harness (we can provide resources for this type of harness).

Lucy is beautiful and has a TON of potential to be an awesome dog! She needs someone to see past her initial “interview” to the dog she could be in 6 months time with some patience and training. We know the perfect family is out there for this sweet and deserving girl, that will allow her to move on from her scary beginnings to the Good Life.
