Meet Lucky
Lucky's short life has been one of both some sad misfortune and some very fortunate circumstances. This little man, at only 8 months old, was hit by a car that never even stopped to check on him, leaving him with a broken rear leg, fractured pelvis and mangled from leg. Thankfully, kind bystanders that witnessed this scooped him up and took him to a local ER, where it so happened a critical care vet that fosters for Double Dog was doing relief work.
After 6 days of being unclaimed, the clinic decided to euthanize Lucky, but our Vet/Foster stepped in, agreeing to pay his extremely sizable bill and get Lucky the care he needed if we could assure him placement in our rescue. Of course, we said yes! Lucky had his rear left leg plated. His front left leg was unfortunately not savable, so was removed. He is getting along well as a little tripod pup, and we expect it will only get better from here as he can already run on three legs!
Lucky has never had any significant time spent with him, so is learning crate training and is doing well with that, he is also a typical puppy and will chew on items, so needs supervision and direction. He is extremely sweet, enjoys the company of other dogs and is curious of cats, we think he would ultimately do fine in a home with them as well.
We are looking for a family that has time to devote to training and extra love and care as he aclimates to being a three legged pup.
