Lucas is staring into your soul what his big brown eyes....and what does he see? Himself in your future! Lucas is a wiggly boy who LOVES hanging with doggo pals. He's quite scared in the shelter as a lot of dogs are when they get here, but he warms up with some time with his pals.

Lucas is now available for adoption at ACCT Philly. You can meet him any day from 10am-6pm.

Behavior:
Per Volunteer 5/12/24: Such a sweet boy!! He's super scared inside. He was so scared for leashing, cowering in the corner and full body shaking. I dropped treats which he always came forward to eat and then he'd retreat again. He was clearly scared but not at all reactive so I stepped into his kennel and leashed him which he allowed. He hopped out with me. He really shines when he's around other dogs! he immediately perked up when he saw Takeela and they hung out, sniffed, and walked for a while. Really warmed up after the dog meet! Loves treats! takes them super gently. He knows sit and then waits for his treats impatiently tapping his feet. Went back into kennel no issues and took pets from me in kennel.

Per Staff 5/10/24:
Lucas was sitting between his bed and the wall, facing the opposite direction. I called him but he didn't move until I opened the door. He approached me with big soft eyes, a lowered body, and tail tucked. He sniffed me and the leash curious while I crouched down, but ran to the other side when I moved the leash toward him. He paced back and forth a few times so I lowered the divider. When he saw he couldn't run he curled up in the corner and tried to hide his face from the leash. I was able to side ways lasso him and he came out of kennel very hesitantly.
Lots of cowering and stopping. Kept a good pace and walked by dogs easily but would flinch if they barked at him.
Handleability/SociabilityNeutral/ Allows all handlingLucas was very nervous at first, but immediately opened up to me when I gave him a gentle touch. I touched his back gently and he instantly pressed his backside into me, accepting some all over pets. He would flinch if I picked up my hand to move it, so I kept a steady hand on him to help him adjust. He then felt comfortable enough to get some potty out and do a shake off. After he went potty Lucas sought me out and gave me some timid sniffs before pressing himself against me again for some pets. He allowed all over head and body pets. After he got some love he hid under the chair I was sitting on. He would come out from hiding if I called him. He liked baby voice and would give low wags whenever I used one. Lucas is a very scared boy, but he's very friendly and wants to trust. He allowed all handling without issue, just go slow.

Per Staff 5/9/24: Frequent lip licking and panting during intake PE, possibly stressed. Did very well with restraint and handling. Allowed all petting.
