Meet Lola

Meet Lola! She is almost a year old and only 45 lbs. This young German Shepherd is a very sweet girl. She does take a bit to warm up to strangers but once she trusts you, she shows her true sweet, cuddly and playful self. She loves toys especially those with squeakers or tennis balls. If you give her a squeaky tennis balls, this girl is in heaven. She loves going for walks, running around the yard, and playing with doggie friends. She absolutely loves playing fetch and will play for as long as you are willing to throw the ball for. She was not well socialized as a pup so she is nervous around new people and will bark if a stranger reaches out to touch her. We have been exposing her to new experiences and new people and she is growing in confidence on a daily basis. She is curiosity motivated. She has climbed into the running shower just to see what it was. Lol.

As a young dog, Lola does have some puppy energy. She will do best with an active family who will take her for walks or play lots of fetch or has a doggie playmate. After burning off some energy though, she does also know how to chill and nap next to you. She loves cuddles, tummy rubs, and really any sort of affection. She likes both giving and receiving kisses.

Lola is completely potty trained. She has not had any accidents. She is also crate trained and leash trained. We have recently started using a gentle lead harness for her, just because she does get excited to see other dogs when our on walks and she has made huge improvements with her leash manners after doing so.

Lola is very smart and is eager to learn and to please which is evident in her quick grasp of new commands. With just three or four repetitions, she can master and execute a new command flawlessly. She knows sit, down, leave it, and paw. She taught herself how to use the dog door. She also understands the command "time for bed" and will happily run to her crate for a treat. We are currently working on not barking but she does forget sometimes when we're out in public and she's excited to see a dog or when she's nervous about a human trying to touch her. But again, we are actively working on it and are seeing major improvements.

In regards to cats, Lola's behavior is dependent on her individual interactions with them. She is not aggressive but has tried to initiate play with them. She would do best with a confident cat that is comfortable around dogs and an adopter that will take it slow to introduce them. In regards to children, she does better with older kids that can understand dog body language. We think that a home with little kiddos who can't read her boundaries might be overwhelming for her.

Lola is a remarkable young sweet German Shepherd with exceptional intelligence. With a little patience and continued socializing and training, she has the potential to really excel. Her endearing personality, affectionate nature, and eagerness to learn make her a delightful companion. Lola is a loving and devoted girl who will bring immeasurable joy to the right person or family.
