Lexi Shepherd & Beagle Mix Houston, TX

Meet Lexi! Lexi is a 4 yo shepherd beagle mix who was picked up by a friend of the rescue after she found out she was a stray who was being kept outside in a crate on an apartment patio. Since she is HW+, she asked for help with treatment and finding her a home. Lexi is a very good girl and plays very well with dogs her size (~45lbs). Her foster sibling is a year old boxer shepherd mix and they play great together! She is fully housetrained and will go to the door if she has to potty or wants to play outside. She loves bones and sticks more than cloth or squeaky toys. She will play all day with other dogs and then cuddle with you on the couch or in bed to rest. She looks at you with those big eyes and waits for permission to jump on the couch and then flops onto you for cuddles. She will stay there as long as you let her, an excellent yet calm cuddle buddy!

Lexi is HW+ and her treatment plan is being covered by the rescue. She has already begun her pre-treatment meds and her injections are scheduled for around mid-November. She will need to be on crate rest and very low activity for the 8 weeks following to keep her blood pressure and heart rate down while the medicine works.

Lexi is a good companion on a walk or a run. She is working on not chasing squirrels (like every other dog in the world). Lexi is also crate trained and will sleep well overnight in her crate. Sometimes she guards her food so her foster mom simply feeds her in her crate and picks up her bowl when Lexi is outside. Lexi LOVES to go for a car ride and is very well behaved in the car. She even likes her car harness and buckle.
