Meet LETTY

-Super smart, food-motivated, and trainable! Responds well to verbal praise, treats, and affection/pets/cuddles. -She seems housebroken! No accidents after her first day with us. Her accidents were on towels and blankets we set out for her, not on the floor itself. -Loves chasing tennis balls, running around the yard, and laying in the sunshine. Will sit with you on leash and calmly and quietly observe her surroundings as well. When we are outside, she does a great job ignoring outdoor triggers like barking dogs, neighbors in their yards, hammering, and construction. -Knows sit, but also working on and making progress on commands like come with an autosit, leave it, and implied stay on a sit. She aims to please her person! -Sleeping overnight in a crate. The first night with us she let me know that she needed out twice in the middle of the night, but she has slept all night since then with no crate accidents. -Loves food puzzles - she really likes to work for her food and has enjoyed eating from a snuffle mat and a kong wobbler. -She stays in a crate when we are gone. She goes right in when asked! We leave her with toys, treats, and food puzzles when we leave to keep her as occupied as possible. We noticed from the ring camera that she barks some in the crate while we are gone, so she may be working to overcome some crate anxiety. Shes spent some time in the crate while we are home too without issue and eats her meals in the crate. -She will get a few short bursts of energy here and there, but shes pretty chill in the house and likes to sleep and relax a lot! -Loves sniffing around the yard, walks and hikes, and running in the yard, but I think she has low exercise needs overall. -Loves to give kisses and seems to do well with kids! Warning, she will lick your whole face if you let her! Haha! I know she's been used for various kids education programs at the HSMO! She did awesome at a kids and canines dog training event around other leashed dogs and other kids! She loves getting gentle pets from dog-savvy kiddos. -She has been kept separate from our dog and cat and we were working on slow introductions to see if we could integrate her into the pack in our house. Weve learned that she has some alpha dog energy and would likely thrive in an only pet home, or perhaps with another dog but it would have to be the perfect match (maybe a low energy senior or a submissive dog). Slow and proper intros with a patient pet parent would be highly recommended and feeding should be kept separate to avoid any stress or conflict. By day 5, we exposed her to the cat in the morning - cat in closed carrier behind gate, and then cat back behind gate and opened for cat to exit. No whining, whimpering, lunging, or barking, but she licked her lips and fixated. She and the cat came nose to nose at the gate with no reaction/loose leash. -Seems mostly unbothered by other leashed dogs or dogs in their own yards. Leery of other dogs in her direct space though. Previous foster mom shared that she was not a fan of high energy dogs who wouldnt stop jumping on her/inciting play at a dog park. Shes been to zoomies, a pet cafe on a field trip around other animals without issue. -Will chase rabbits, squirrels, and birds in the yard. -Loves toys, but shes a heavy chewer and likes the deer antler and Bullymake toys! May chew through toys not meant for the heaviest of chewers ?? She didnt chew anything else up in the house. -Enjoys pup cups, doggie ice cream, busy bones, and dental chews. And lots of treats!
