Recently rescued from high kill shelter her last death row time, then transported to Oregon. Layla couldn't be more loving if she tried! Great with babies, toddlers, children, & people of all ages. Layla loves everyone and has partial training. She is potty trained and loves to go for walks, loves to play, loves to snuggle. Really Loves snuggles!
Layla is a good dog! But she still in a very stressed state of mind. She has done well with other big dogs, but should be in a controlled introduction. (She is other dog selective. We’ve noticed she doesn’t seem fond of alpha dogs, but can play delightly with other dogs on an even level.) Layla upon meeting other dogs would benefit from a nice gentle introduction to other full sized dogs. Introductions should be done in a calm positive way. Going for a walk together would be great.
She is currently in a good foster home in Cornelius. She insists on snuggles with her human foster family and charmed them in minutes. They are going to start improving her training. (Please no cats or small animal pets.)
She completely ignores chicken! (We are guessing she was raised with barnyard fowl and trained to ignore them. She acts like they don’t exist.)
Layla is a loving sweet people friendly dog, but she has been through a lot. Adopters should be prepared to continue loving guidance with Layla setting expectations and praising her for successes. Layla craves positive interactions. Sure treats always help with dogs, but Layla would happily skip filet-minion for loving praise from her people. Her best treat is a kind word and a pet.
