*****Please note that this dog was part of hoarding case and came from a situation where they lived with a large number of other dogs and had very little interaction with people.****

Kirby is a nervous pup who hasn't had the best start to life. It takes him a while to warm up to humans because of his past. But once he learns to trust you, he will be your best friend. Because of his timid nature, we are requiring all humans in the home to visit Kirby before taking him home. Since he's been here, Kirby has greatly benefitted from having another dog around. Because of this, we are requiring that he go to a home that already has a canine companion for him. We are also requiring that all children in the home be at least 10 years old. Kirby has unfortunately contracted heartworm disease, a serious mosquito borne illness, before arriving at the shelter. He will need to recieve his heartworm treatment in his future home, which involves several weeks of low activity/crate rest. This is why it is very important to keep all dogs on heartworm prevention all year round. If you'd like to give this shy guy his second chance, ask a Kennel Technician.
