Meet Katie

Katie is looking for her furever home!

She is a darling 55 lb mix of tiger stripes, velcro, sweetness, curiosity, and eagerness to learn and be loved!

She was brought to the shelter with her brother, Pierre, halfway through a pregnancy and separated from her brother.

They spayed her, and she lost her 9 puppies. As tough as this is to hear, finding anyone to take her and her puppies is next to impossible.

So this sweet girl stuck by her brother during play group and wasn't interested in many other dogs. Then Pierre got adopted and she was alone.

Her time at the shelter was up and they were going to kill her for space-NOT because there is anything wrong with her.

Katie has been in foster for a few days and has already settled in nicely. She has been in a home before. She craves attention and will sometimes jump up to get it.

We are practicing "four on the floor" which is trainer speak for I will ignore you until you have four feet on the floor to deter you from jumping up on me.

She knows sit, is potty trained, loves her crate, loves her toys and chewies, and naps with me like a champ!

She needs some training like ALL dogs do. She could be a great running dog or just a chill walker, loves to play ball, snuggles with her stuffies, and is quiet! She is happy in her crate but prefers to be with you.

She has been introduced to our cats and dogs and yesterday, we had a breakthrough! Our dogs "invited" her to play and the three ran around together like best friends! ?

Our cats know dogs so they know how to be with her; however, it's never a good idea to leave a new dog unsupervised with other pets-you just never know what can happen.

She has been exposed to all sorts of noises and sounds and isn't reactive at all on her leash.

She does well with my son, Ryan, who is 17 and dog savvy.

If you are looking for an adult dog- I'm thinking she is around 3? who is past the chewing stage but still needs to learn manners, is crate trained, potty trained, easy to love, gets along well with people, and can easily be incorporated into your family, please consider adopting Katie.

She is so easy to train and just wants to find her forever safe person who won't give her away.

Katie looks pittie but has wirey fur in some places, so not all pittie. The iphone app identified her as a plott hound, black mouth cur, lab mixed with pittie (the best of a lab without the fur!); she is quite close to perfect and with some training and consistency (her only flaws are jumping up and getting on the couch), she will be a perfect dog!

Pitties are so sweet! They are labs without the fur. Loyal-they were America's first nannies! And they were used in war. Their bite PSI is less than a macaw and many other LITTLE dogs.

Please don't let her pittie status scare you. My pittsky is my new love ??! They just have a bad reputation due to idiot owners.

Adopt this sweet girl! She is spayed and has all shots!
