Joey, and brother, Jake, were born at the owner's home when she rescued their stray mama.

With a guesstimated birthday in Oct. 2022, Jake weighed 25 lb at his vet visit on Dec. 16, 2023.

Joey is doing well in his foster home. He loves playing with toys and uses good house manners to show his appreciation for being allowed to be an indoor dog.

Joey is nervous when riding in cars. This will fade as he becomes more used to riding.

Joey is comfortable in a 36" crate. He lets his foster mom know when it's bedtime and happily hops into his crate for sleep - a treat is always appreciated as a reward for settling quietly at bedtime.

Joey is leash savvy. He hasn't met a cat, but his brother, Jake, ignores the cats in his foster home. It's likely that Joey will do the same if introduced correctly to cats in a new home.

Whether dogs / puppies come in as strays or owner surrenders, we make our best guess as to birthdate and breed.

For adult dogs, our adoption fee covers a standard canine vaccine, a rabies vaccine, and deworming if recommended by our vet. Adult dogs will also have current heartworm test. For puppies over the age of 14 weeks, our adoption fee covers the first 3 puppy vaccines. If the puppy is still in our care at 16 weeks, we will also provide the rabies vaccine.

A vet reference is required only if you are adopting an intact dog over 6 months of age (or the age our attending veterinarian recommends for spay/neuter) to ensure future altering of the dog. A refundable spay/neuter deposit is required for intact dogs/puppies.

Open Adoption Events for Foster Dogs are held on most Saturdays at Tractor Supply in Lenoir from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Open Adoption Events for Bunch Anderson Shelter Dogs are held every Saturday from noon-4:00 p.m. Please check our FB page for changes in Adoption Event Schedules.

A scheduled Meet & Greet between Adoption Events may be possible by sending an e-mail to: info@foothillscaninerescue.org. We do not hold dogs. Fees are required in cash at Tractor Supply.
