Meet Jody

Jody is a beautiful white husky who weighs 40 pounds. She is 5 years old. Jody is not your typical husky. While she is playful, intelligent, and loves snow like a husky, she is also quiet and calm which is more atypical for the breed. Jody is very observant and will watch you from across the room or yard. She hasn't started taking treats from her human friend's hands, but she will come near and take a tossed treat. Jody has been known to like scratches and some pets by her closest human friends. She LOVES dogs, especially puppies/young dogs and male dogs. She is good with dogs of all sizes as she is quite gentle. She requires another dog in the home, preferably a confident one. She loves to spend time outside in the yard exploring, running, and romping with other dogs.

She will need a home that will give her time to decompress and let her come to them when she is ready. Jody loves a soft spot to land such as a dog bed, quilt or blanket, or your heated up recliner. She is really enjoying the recliner in her foster home. Jody walks on leash like a dream, but is considered a significant flight risk, so a 6 foot secure fence is required for her to thrive and remain safe. Our adoption team will help you with strategies for keeping her safe in the house as well. These are simple steps such as leashing her or using a baby gate or x-pen by the front door and closing the garage door before opening the door to the house. Jody is ready for her furver home and we sure hope you are falling in love with this beautiful girl! If you would like to meet Jody, please apply at NMDR.org.

Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. Many of our dogs will need fenced yards and a confident dog in the family. The great news is, most of these dogs come around with patience, and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
