Meet Jia!

Jia came to us from Chula Vista Animal Care Facility on February 5th. She is 10 years old and weighs 4 lbs. After her arrival, Jia spent her first four weeks as a Frosted Face quarantined in our veterinary hospital with pneumonia.

Fortunately, after this stressful experience, Jia has been living in a Foster home for the past month, and she is really blossoming! Her Foster Mom shares:

"I've learned so much about Jia, as well as helped her settle into a home environment.

Jia was one of the dogs that came to us from the shelter with pneumonia and spent the first month at Frosted Faces very sick in the ICU. She pulled though, but I could tell she had developed a fair amount of fear. Understandable being in a new place, with so many other dogs and so sick wondering where her family was and why they left her.

Underneath that fear is the sweetest little 4lb bundle of sass! Jia loves to walk and almost always prefers to walk versus be held or carried. She is a good eater and loves her bed or my heated blanket. She is learning how to walk on a leash better each day and is less and less fearful. She uses a pee pad most of the time and we are working on potty training outside on a leash.

Jia likes to be next to you and receive attention but is not a dog that seeks out attention. She is super independent but can become shut down or nervous still if she is unsure of new environments or people. So I have been giving her time to settle in at her own pace, and CBD calming treats have helped too. She has no bad habits, and I rarely hear her whine or make noise.

Jia gives the sweetest little kisses back when you kiss her cheeks. She loves to sleep in bed with me or in her doggie bed and loves to burrow in blankets, towels or cloths. She is good in the car and does well with big and small dogs as well as kids of all ages.
