Meet Jessica

Jessica was adopted when she was 8 weeks old from a Nevada shelter. Unfortunately, she was surrendered back to the same shelter when she was about 3 years old - dirty, matted and angry. Jessica became very fearful at the shelter, was deemed to be unadoptable, and was scheduled for euthanasia. We were able to arrange transport for her to Denver. People who kept her overnight during her transport noticed that her behavior was somewhat erratic - she bonded to women, disliked women, disliked men, liked men, loving, then snappy. We now think that it was because she was just fearful of all the changes in her environment. Jessica has a small spot on her left eye that makes it difficult for her to see clearly, so we also wonder if she might be startled easily. We took her to see an eye specialist to determine next steps and learned that the spot on her eye probably does not significantly impair her sight, and that she really doesn’t like men, or maybe just eye specialists, who move quickly close to her. ? She is on two eye drops a day for her left eye.

After just a few days in her foster home, she became a “Velcro”dog, wants to be near her foster mom all the time, on her lap if possible, next to her at night! The foster has gone very slowly with her, and she is in a calm quiet part of the house with two confident senior dogs.

Jessica will need a quiet, calm home, preferably with a woman who is around much of the time and no children. She will need patient people to give her time to settle in and get to know and trust you. She will make someone a very loving devoted companion. She is happy to sit next to you while watching television or while you read. She doesn’t seem too interested in toys, but likes being outside. She isn’t really food motivated, but will be first in line to get treats or some people food!

Jessica is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and microchipped. If you would like to meet Jessica, go to www.cominischnauzerrescue.com and complete the on-line adoption application and we will give you a call to set up a time for a visit.
