Meet Jasper
If we were to give our yearbook superlatives to our shelter pets, Jasper would EASILY win the award for BEST SMILE! This kiddo's grin is almost always plastered on his handsome face. Sadly for Jasper, his big smile and happy face are a common sight at Hawaii Island Humane Society.
Jasper was adopted in 2022 and enjoyed more than a year in his home with his dad. In 2023, Jasper's dad suddenly passed away and Jasper found himself back at the shelter.
Jasper is a fun, active dog who would be a perfect fit for those who lead a fun, active life. He is friendly and social... and the life of the party! He enjoys engaging with people and being affectionate. He'll gently nudge your hand to ask for more pets. He gets along easily with other dogs and loves to zoom around with his dog friends at the shelter, during playgroup.
This kid is more than just good looks. He's eager to learn and would be an excellent student to learn new skills and tricks together through force-free, positive reinforcement training. He already knows ''sit'' and gladly offers up his paw for ''shake.'' When you aren't actively engaged in exercise or training together, Jasper would be very content to enjoy enrichment games like stuffed Kongs and food puzzles.
Jasper is a smart, curious dog who would be best suited to life in an indoor home. Jasper's ideal home is one with adults who are committed to meeting his needs, including him as a family member, and keeping his keen mind engaged and enriched.
