Dog for the Day (DFTD) Champ!

Jacob recently got to spend a day away from the shelter with one of our fabulous volunteers.
He was calm and well-mannered in the car and would occasionally stick his nose out the window for some sniffs. Jacob started his adventure with a walk in the park and was "wonderful" on leash. He even did well when kids on roller blades passed.

After his walk, he sat on the patio of restaurant and Jacob patiently chilled while soliciting pets from strangers.

Lastly, Jacob spent some time in a home just hanging out on the couch, cuddling, and watching television with his volunteer-pal. He even got to meet her cat and did well!

Jacob is equally-impressive in the stressful, shelter environment. Volunteers report that Jacob is easy to retrieve from his kennel. Despite being excited to be outside, Jacob will show off his 'sit' skills and is very focused. Jacob takes his snacks gently and responds well to praise. He seems like a smart boy and might enjoy learning more commands in a home with his new family.
