Meet Jack

Say hello to Jack! Jack is two year old lurcher (greyhound mix) who was bred for hobby racing or field trials, but we don’t think he ever did it. He is a gorgeous brindle boy with adorable ears and facial expressions.

Jack very much enjoys being with his people. He loves people and gravitates males especially. He will follow you around to see what you’re up to. This boy is equally already to go on adventure with you as he is to take naps or binge watch your favorite tv show.

Jack kennels well and that’s where he is to eat and when the humans leave. He is not possessive of toys or food around people, but he is towards other dogs; because of this, his ideal home would be without other dogs. A dog savvy human who is committed to proper introductions and maintaining boundaries could result in him doing well with large canine companions (he currently lives with other greyhounds and is doing well as long as resources are human managed). He is not a fan of linoleum or wood floors but is adapting, just prefers some rugs so he can “island hop.”

Jack would like to live in a home with a 6' fence or without a fence meaning leash walks for every outing. He hasn't tried, but we think he may be capable and interested in jumping a 4' fence. He previously lived as a solo pet, in an apartment building and did greyt! If you’re looking for an apartment roommate, Jack might be a perfect fit for you! Jack would do best as an only pet (see above). Cats and small dogs are not companions he is interested in sharing his home with.

This dog is being fostered in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City. We do not ship dogs. Adopters must be committed to meeting the dog in the area it is being fostered.
