Meet Iris

Iris IS AVAILALBE (updated 05-01-2024).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Iris, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=22750&name=IrisWe will never know how Iris' life started out except she was clearly bounced around from one shelter and foster to another. But, we do know when Coastal GSR rescued her she was in a bad way. She was very sick and one step away from death's doorstep with pneumonia. Fortunately, thanks to a dedicated foster family and two wonderful doctors, she has been nursed back to health and is now enjoying the company of two large foster brothers. Iris is very content in her role as #3 dog in the pecking order. Iris is part German Shepherd and part Belgian Malinois. She will require an owner with breed experience. She has a high energy drive and she can leap and bound like a cat. She 'gallops' like a horse when she runs. She is a beautiful sight to see. Iris is a little less than a year old and she has no shortage of energy. At 75 lbs she is pretty much fully grown. Iris loves to have a ball in her mouth; she is perfectly content to just run around with one. She is still learning 'ball etiquette' on how to play and grab the ball gently from your hand. Iris has been 'ok' with her foster's cats but requires a watchful eye when she is around them. She can be a little too interested in them. Everyone who meets Iris says 'this is such a sweet dog'. And it's true. She is just as sweet as can be and gets along with everyone. And maybe you will think that too when you meet her. She is a happy girl who is ready for the next chapter in her life. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
