Beagle lovers look no further! Harper is a 3-year old female Beagle just doing beagle things. She’s got gorgeous beagle spots, big doe eyes, cute floppy ears, and weighs a perfect 23 lbs. Harper has sleek, shiny fur that she likes to perfume with a good daily roll in the grass. She likes other dogs and plays gently. With people, she’s an attention-seeking, velcro dog who loves to snuggle. She’s sweet and sensitive, whining at the slightest sign of your displeasure. Harper likes small toys, furry plushies, and real dog bones. She likes car rides and eagerly watches out the windows with her tail wagging. She’s leash trained and makes a great walking buddy.

Harper’s blessing and curse is her beagle super-nose. She has a great sense of smell but loses all sanity when she gets a whiff of yummy food. You see, once her nose is activated, she becomes blind to your presence, loses her sense of hearing when told no, and develops extraordinary climbing skills to obtain the food that’s driven her to a crazed frenzy. Once she’s honed in on that scent she defines the phrase “like a dog with a bone.” She’s stubbornly determined! Harper wants to be adopted by someone that can stimulate her with additional scent and tracking training, take her for excursions, and get regular exercise. She’d also like a fenced yard to run free and sunbathe at her leisure. Harper would prefer to be with her adopter or adopted family as much as possible, so a work-from-home adopter is best. Harper is crate trained but she becomes quite vocal about her initial displeasure when locked in (so not best suited to apartment living).

As part of our adoption agreement, we require that you and your adopted canine attend a minimum of one group basic obedience course within 4 months of adoption. If adopting a puppy under 4 months old, we also require a group puppy socialization course be started immediately upon adoption.

In addition, we require that puppies under 6 months of age will not be alone for more than 4 hours at a time in an 8 hour workday. We highly encourage working families to consider older puppies and adult dogs, but if your heart is set on a puppy, please consider doggie daycare.
