Harold Shepherd Mix Thousand Oaks, CA

Harold is a 1-year-old shepherd mix currently being held at the Kern County Animal Services - Bakersfield Shelter. He has been at the shelter since February 7, 2024, and is ready for his new home.

Harold went out on the streets of Bakersfield, a foster for a day program. Here are his notes: "Harold was such a good boy today! He is so good with kids and babies and loves cuddling. He gives so many kisses and loves to be right by your side. Definitely the sweetest boy. He loved his treats and loves to play in the grass!"

Companion Animal Protection Services (CAPS), a national nonprofit based in Thousand Oaks, CA., is partnering with Kern County Animal Services in Bakersfield to find homes for high risk dogs, The shelter has more than 300 dogs and puppies in two metal warehouses with no outdoor runs. Dogs over five-months-old are at high risk for euthanasia because of lack of space and too many abandoned dogs in the community.

Please contact CAPS if you are interested in adopting, rescuing or fostering, and we will make sure the shelter contacts you. They do not answer phones or respond often to voice messages due to understaffing. Foster homes must be in Kern County. The dogs are in Bakersfield, not Thousand Oaks.
