Gwen Miniature Schnauzer Littleton, CO

Like so many of our little girls in rescue, Gwen spent her first few years producing puppies. And some breeder made a lot of money on her cute little puppies! Gwen isn’t much older than a puppy herself at an estimated 3 to 4 years old. She is small at just over 11 pounds, with wavy light gray fur. She is more social than most females that come out of breeding situations. We really don’t know anything about her background except that she was found running as a stray in rural western Kansas. She was still producing milk for her last litter when she was picked up. Sometimes the shelter people recognize dogs that are picked up in the surrounding area, but no one recognized Gwen.

Gwen is a quiet, calm little girl who loves attention, laps and petting and, like many stray dogs who may have missed a few meals, she is very food motivated. She still needs to work on building her confidence and on her potty training. We have to remember that until just a week or so ago, no one cared where she went potty. We are hoping to find her a home with someone who works from home or is retired to help her with her potty training and with learning to be a normal dog. She would enjoy the company of a companion dog, and a secure backyard to play in.

Gwen is spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations (rabies, distemper and kennel cough), vet checked, heartworm tested negative and on preventative while in rescue, and microchipped.
