Description of pet
***The Ark of Hope Rescue does not have an adoption fee but we do ask that you consider what The Ark of Hope Rescue does for all the animals that arrive here and make a monetary donation to the rescue. All the animals that come to the rescue have been abused, abandoned or neglected. Most come with large vet bills, the only means that we have to pay our bills, food, treats, bedding, toys...supplies are by your financial donations! Also this rescue is staffed Completely by volunteers, NO paid salaries here!

***After you read Gus's biography below, if you are interested in visiting him or any other dog here at The Ark go to: www.arkofhoperescue.org under the filmstrip of pictures you will see "The Adoption Procedure" click on that, scroll down to the bottom and click on “Dog Adoption Application.” Fill it out and attach it to an email (arkofhoperescue@yahoo.com) You will get an email confirmation when it is received. Then as soon as possible someone from The Ark will be in touch with you. Or you can call and ask for Dianne @ 301-478-3300.

***Why is this Handsome boy here?
Gus came to The Ark of Hope Rescue by means of "Pilots for Paws!" Gus was one of 6 puppies found crammed in a cage by a lake that was going to be flooded in Alabama. A good Samaritan found them and took them to the local shelter. Once their "hold" period was up they were going to be euthanized. The Ark of Hope Rescue was contacted and asked to take the puppies. We did and once they were ready we found them what we thought would be good loving homes. But this time we were wrong... A neighbor saw this puppy being beat, took him and gave him to a friend. He has been living there for a year now, everything good. Then I get a phone call telling me the story, including how wonderful the dog is. Then he added that he needed to bring the dog back to The Ark. If everything was so good then why??? Well, in comes a 3 year old grandchild, left alone in a room with the dog. They heard the dog "grumble" that was it! No one knows what was going on with the child and dog, only now afraid they are afraid he will snap at the baby. We took him back right away. We have put every scenario at this pup, he passed with flying colors! We have not seen a behavior problems at all. We have taken food, treats, toys, etc. out of his mouth. My 3 granddaughter was with him - supervised of course, now he did lick her face! (staying on a tight leash) but we feel there had to be something that happened at that particular incident, but with no one around, we'll never know. When his owner brought him back to us he was crying and keep saying, "I'm so sorry Gus!" He, and the dog looking back at him broke our hearts! The man sure knew what he was doing but the poor dog didn't!
He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped! Gus is an incredible fun, playful, adorable puppy. Of course a fenced yard would be great but not a necessity. Anyway, Gus really needs a home where he will get all the love and playtime a growing puppy needs, should have and a second chance! He craves any kind of love from anyone and everyone. He also would love to lay around or just to cuddle and watch TV with. He needs a family to love him and a family that he will be able love in return! Gus is an amazing puppy that has had a really tough start to life, I know he would make the right people the perfect addition to their family! Please don't let him grow up in a rescue, he needs a home with a family to love!
If you may be that person or that family please follow the directions above in the second paragraph and let's make a meet and greet date! You can always call and ask for Dianne for more information 301-478-3300.
If you email the adoption application, put the dog's name in the subject line!
