Gunter-i1888 German Shepherd Dog Anoka, MN

July 1, 2020 update: Gunter has been with his foster family for 18 months. In that time he has learned that humans are kind, they give treats when you shake & sit pretty (well his version of sit pretty, he hasn't figured out balance yet) he allows males to touch him now & even seeks attention from them. He knows basic commands & is great on walks! He absolutely adores the other resident dogs & all the visiting dogs he's met. He is house trained & crate trained. He still gets a little startled with sudden noises but doesn't bolt like he used to. He's a cuddler & would love nothing more than to spend the rest of his days curled up next to his human.

September 2019 update: Gunter has recently gone up to men who he has been afraid of for many months. He now goes to the man of the house where is being fostered requesting attention and petting. This is a MAJOR step forward in his healing process. He is ready to find a FUREVER home. He has also barked to start play with another dog in the last few weeks. We see awesome changed in this dog every week.

Feb 2019 update: Gunter has learned to come when called, He is house broken, crate trained, plays with others dogs in his current foster home. He is relaxing and enjoying being a house dog. We want this for all of our dogs. He is a beautiful, wonderful, young male that would be a great addition to most homes.

He needs to be in a home with another dog, preferably a female that is mild mannered. He can NOT be an only dog. He would have anxiety and we would not approve an application for this type of environment.

12.31.18 Update: he is currently being fostered in Fargo ND and doing well. He is housebroken, crate trained and starting to play with toys. He was in a high kill shelter originally and pulled by a kind rescue person. He will fit into most homes and get along with just about any dog. Lots of love, time and patience will show the true dogs personality. He is a little head shy of a hand so we feel someone may have mistreated him previously. He is doing well and learning to trust.

Gunter is a beautiful sweet boy. He has a DOB 11.3.13. He is very well behaved purebred shepherd He is housebroken and loves to go for walks. Seems to get along with other dogs and ignores cats. He had been without a family for 2 to 3 months and will need time to learn to trust people again. He is completely vetted. He has been treated for heartworm. It is recommended that he be checked again in 6 months. His adoption fee is $250.00.
