Grant is a wonderful dog with unique needs and characteristics. He’s received basic and professional training to help him with his fear-based reactions and other behaviors. With the right person and consistent, attentive training, he can overcome these challenges and become more comfortable around other dogs.

Grant's love for his humans and his desire to learn quickly are positive traits. His training knowledge, including commands like sit, down, wait, place, drop, give, and get your toy, shows that he is responsive and enjoys mental stimulation. His affinity for nose work and finding treats in the yard with boxes and props is a great way to engage his mind.

Grant's high prey drive and reactivity around other dogs indicate that he would not be suitable for a household with young children, small animals, or cats. He requires a strong leader who can provide him with the guidance and structure he needs to make the right choices. It's important to note that he reacts to dogs when his person is close by and touching another dog, so this behavior should be considered when managing his interactions.

Grant's silly behavior and love for toys make him a playful companion. Using toys as a reward during training can be effective, considering his oral fixation and his desire to carry toys in his mouth. Additionally, Grant's good behavior during baths and nail trims is a positive aspect to his personality.

It's unfortunate Grant developed tendonitis in his leg due to the attack he experienced before Useless Bay Sanctuary captured him (see our facebook page to learn his complete rescue story). His condition may cause occasional discomfort, but with proper care and attention, he can still live a normal, happy and fulfilling life.
