Meet GRACIE

We’d like to introduce you to one sweeeeeet little pup...Gracie!

Gracie is – we think! – a Shih-Tzu/Terrier mix. (She had been picked up as a stray at a nearby animal shelter, so there was no information available about her, or her background, from any previous owner.) She has a beautiful, soft black coat with touches of silver on her face, ears, and chest. She’s a very quiet girl with a gentle disposition, and she is small (only 14 lbs.) – so she’s a manageable size for even an older person. We estimate her to be approximately 8 – which is a nice age for a new pet. She’s settled and self-possessed...but nowhere near geriatric! She is well house-trained and uses a doggy-door at her foster home – but when Gracie was a temporary guest in another volunteer’s home while her foster mom was away, she was very tidy in the house!

If Gracie could talk, here are some other things she would mention to you about herself:
I don’t do toys or balls or stuffed animals.
I like to ride in the car. I sit quietly in my seat and see as much as I can...but I’m too short to be able to actually look out the window. So pretty soon...well...I just nap!
I like being held, at least for a few minutes...but then I like to curl up next to my foster mom and rest.
I’m a pretty low-maintenance girl.
I like to go for walks, and I do really well on a leash.
Sometimes I really like to RUN AROUND in my yard!

Now and again (as Gracie has said above) she gets “the zoomies” outside, so a fenced yard will be a requirement to help keep her safe.

Gracie really prefers the company of her foster mom to being with other animals, although she does get along extremely well with the numerous dogs she has spent time with – and with cats, as well. Another small dog in the home would be nice – to keep her company if her person has to go out. We also prefer that any children in her new forever family are older and settled.

Gracie is spayed and microchipped. She is also current on her rabies and DHP/Parvo vaccines, and she tested negative for heartworms. She is on heartworm prevention.

Gracie’s adoption fee is $400.00.

If you feel that you would like to add Gracie to your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste).

Please note that if you are unable to adopt Gracie but would like to help cover any vetting expenses by donating through the Petfinder Foundation while she is waiting to find her new family, please click the “Sponsor” bar in the purple box on the right side of this page. Thank you so much for supporting her!

Also, when adopting or purchasing a dog, please consider the care and grooming involved with long-haired breeds such as Gracie. They are considered "high maintenance" because they do require regular brushing and trips to the groomer. If this does not fit into your lifestyle or budget, then a short-haired breed may be a better choice for you.

Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption doesn’t work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have the perfect "forever" home!

Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, but we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
