Meet Gnocchy

Gnocchy, born August 28, 2020, was a stud used for breeding via a backyard breeder. I make zero claims that he's anything pure in breed but he's noted as a shih tzu by the breeder.

Gnocchy weighs in around at the 8-10 pound range. He's a small boy.

Living in a home with 100+ other dogs and receiving a neuter at 3.5 years old (he received his neuter Feb 13, 2024), he does still have some marking tendencies in a new space. A belly band helps with no clean up (you can google it) but this is something you need to be accepting of as it could be a habit that never really goes away. He will need to wear a belly band if you're going visiting in new homes or indoor spaces he's never been in before.

Gnocchy is a really great dog and a wonderful companion. He's more of an independent dog than a dog that wants to be carried around or cuddled often, but he does well in a home with 3 other small dogs and I'm fairly certain he'd be okay with a cat in the home.

He doesn't have any separation anxiety, at least not in a home with other dogs in his space (there could be separation anxiety if he's a solo dog).

Gnocchy was never walked on leash, so he lacks real leash skills but is super content in his foster Mom's large fenced in backyard, romping around and getting all his sniffs in as needed.

Gnocchy is just a good dog with a sad start. He'll need a patient and compassionate adopter ready to introduce him to the world outside with the dedication needed to get him over any hurdles he may come across.

No young kids (under 13) is likely best for him just because he's never lived with kids and prefers humans who understand his independence need. A home or apartment with a fenced backyard that is secure is needed so he can work on his leash skills and has a slow introduction to everything life has to offer.

Gnocchy is a dog that requires regular grooming, so be sure you have that in your budget when considering dog adoption. He was last groomed mid February 2024 and did really well with the groomer.

He had a dental cleaning completed April 16, 2024 along with a tooth extraction.

He's now ready to find his people so he can have a home to call his own!

FROM HIS FOSTER MOM:

Gnocchy is such a sweet little boy! He's really come out of his shell and loves to play like a puppy! At first I never heard him bark at all, but he now speaks up with happiness when playing or wanting to play.

He loves toys and loves to play with other dogs but is also great on his own. He’s really just an overall happy, sweet, playful, loving boy. He prefers to be down on the floor playing or exploring over cuddling with his person, but he still lets me get some cuddles and kisses in too!

He is fed twice a day although not always a huge eater. He initially barely ate much at all and was leery of treats but he’s now enjoying both food and treats. He seems to prefer to take the treats off the floor rather from my hand.

He enjoys the backyard and is great at doing his business out there, almost on command! He knows “pee” and “poop”. He doesn't go for walks as he's very content in the backyard.

He is great on his own through the day while I’m at work. He’s left in his pen and has never done his business there. He does, however, still mark around the house at times but now that he's neutered hoping that resolves.

He also sleeps in his pen overnight and has no issues…sleeps well and has no accidents since we go out before bed and immediately when we get up in the morning. He’s really a dream!

Gnocchy is a total sweetheart and his forever home will be so lucky to have him!!
