Meet Ginger Good

Ginger Good!

Beautiful brindle girl looking for a loving family to show her how wonderful life is in a home.

Measurements: Medium sized lovie with the wiggliest bottom, perky ears (all the better to hear you tell her she is loved) and a huge heart.

Deets: A 4-year-old, 45 pounds, Terrier/Pitty Mix a licious!

Personality: Super sweet, active, playful and nutty! Ginger needs to build trust with her new family, and may need a few meet-n greets, but once she does, she will accept you and show you how much she loves you and how important you are to her.

Bio: Ginger was rescued from a shelter in Oklahoma, she was a pregnant mama about to be euthanized when she began having her puppies. One of our volunteers saw an urgent post from a partner shelter we work with and drove from Iowa to rescue her. Only two of Ginger's puppies survived, but since then, they have both been adopted. Now, it is her turn!

Perfect fit: Ginger can be cautious with loud noises so a less active home with older kids around 12 years and up, would be best for her. Ginger prefers the company of humans, so she should be the only doggo in the home. She likes to think cats are squeaky toys, so she would do best in a home without cats. She is a lucky girl and goes on a lot of adventures with her favorite volunteer! She knows basic commands like come and sit. She is even great with housetraining! She would definitely benefit from obedience training, as she was a young mom that did not have much training before coming to Iowa. She can be a little mouthy with hands, ears, and feet, but she can be redirected with treats and a stern command!

When she arrived from Oklahoma, Ginger did test positive for Heartworm, but has since been treated and is officially clear. In order to keep her from getting Heartworm again in the future, she will need to have regular heartworm preventatives every month and yearly heartworm tests done.

If you would like to give this bundle of fun the bright future she dreams of, please fill out an application to adopt Ginger today!
